I am a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), a massage therapy organization that promotes education, codes of conduct, motivates research, offers continuing education, and offers lots of resources for its members. I’m an active member of the New Jersey Chapter. Although I live in NJ, I still participate in the New York Chapter’s annual conventions. The conventions are a great resource to learn top of the line therapy techniques and for getting updates directly from world renown massage therapists and other health care providers. The AMTA also makes articles available online and periodically publishes its Journal.
When you call me with specific conditions, you are not only counting on knowledge and information I obtained from the Swedish Institute, but also over a decade of massage therapy experience.
Recently for example, I prepared a treatment plan for a client with pain caused by Multiple-Sclerosis. I looked for information to discuss with the client about pain management through massage and I found a good article in the AMTA website and lots of reliable references: https://www.amtamassage.org/research/Massage-Therapy-Research-Roundup/Massage-Therapy—Multiple-Sclerosis.html
No Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) can guarantee that after a session you will be pain-free. If there is anything I can do to help reduce pain so that you can gain days (or even weeks) of comfort, I’ll put a lot of effort into research, discussing with peers and health care professionals, and give you my best during your massage.
I am also a believer in collaboration. I regularly consult with health care professionals such as Physical Therapists, Chiropractors, Psychologists, Acupuncturists, and other providers who could offer a form of therapy to complement or even replace massage therapy. My focus is to help you reduce pain and improve your quality of life.
Even though my website lists various modalities of massage, in my practice, I implement all the strategies I learned, and I try to combine a variety of techniques. Also, since I’m a clinical certified aromatherapy practicioner (CCAP), I can prepare specific blends of oils to help reducing pain and improve other conditions.
If you are in pain or suffer from a specific condition, please check with me… massage therapy can help! If I’m not able to personally help you, at least I can try to be a good source of referral. If you know of someone who could benefit from this information, please feel free to share.
